tell us about it, cate. >> reporter: good morning, brian. yes, the effects of last friday's shooting has affected us all across the country and as many teachers and students go back to classes today in the bay area, there are still a lot of unanswered questions. now, san francisco's unified school district is one of the many across the bay acknowledging how hard this will be for educators and students. mayor lee and the superintendent released a statement letting our schools know there will be counselors available to help anybody deal with trauma and stress. the images of last friday's newtown school shooting across the country have hit us here home. psychologists say younger children will have the hardest time understanding it all. >> so for those children, it's really important to try and limit their exposure to these events, all the news coverage, and to more importantly reassure to them the safety of their environment. >> reporter: older children will have a better understanding and had want to know specifics. dr. berry says be open with
